Qatar Steel honours 285 long-serving personnel

In appreciation of their devoted efforts and dedication, Qatar Steel has honoured 285 employees who have spent between 10 and 40 years in service to the company.
Attending the company ceremony were Qatar Steel managing director and general manager Ali bin Hassan al-Muraikhi, managers of company divisions and departments, and senior employees.
“Through our recognition ceremony, we convey our gratitude and appreciation to our awardees for their committed efforts and devotion throughout their long service,” al-Muraikhi.
Qatar Steel achieved outstanding performance last year, despite challenges faced in terms of global slow demand, fluctuating steel prices, he recalled.
Al-Muraikhi went on to say that Qatar Steel had another challenge on the safety level; namely to provide and ensure a safe and zero accident working environment.
“Therefore, Qatar Steel launched, in 2016, a Safety Transformation Programme (AMAN) across the company, in order to enhance the safety culture among all employees, educate them about the basic health and safety principles and regulations,” he said.
“Our vision for sustainable development lies in transforming Qatar Steel as one of leading steel companies that are applying the highest HSE (health, safety and environment) standards,” al-Muraikhi added.
“Qatar Steel’s strategies have focused on cost optimisation, efficiency improvement, technology up-gradation, as well as maximisation of available resources, in order to enhance its manufacturing and productive capabilities and further improve its performance.”
The top company official said that he hoped the award inspires those who were honoured to set a good example that would enable Qatar Steel to achieve its objectives in growth and sustainable development, maintain its current position in the local and regional markets, and to pursue its role in supporting the national economy and prosperity of the country.
