3,600 oil workers in Jordan prepare to strike

The General Union of Petroleum & Chemical Workers in Jordan has spent several weeks trying to get the government to respond to the demands raised by 3,600 workers representing the total workforce of Jordan's only oil refinery. The government's refusal to enter into dialogue has left them with no other option than to announce a full strike for 24 March.

‘4,024 guest workers found in violation of regulations’

2,000 illegal foreign workers arrested in Jordon, 500 deporte

Some 2,000 foreign workers have been arrested and 500 deported after they were found in violation of the labour and residency regulations during a crackdown that began earlier this year and is still on, according to the labour ministry's inspection department director, Ayman Khawaldeh.

With the defeat in the 1967 Six-Day War and its subsequent internal events, cards were reshuffled at all levels.

Jordan issues new rules for departure of domestic workers

Foreign domestic workers in Jordan, including Filipinos, have been ordered to secure a clearance first stating that they have no criminal records before exiting the Kingdom. The foreign domestic workers, which include over 20,000 Filipinos, must visit Jordan's Residency and Boarders Department five working days prior to departure date, according to the Philippine Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE).
