Big wage rises for Arabtec workers

 

Thousands of Arabtec Holding workers in the UAE have had their wages hiked by an average of 20 per cent, it has been reported.

 

Analysts said the pay increase for the 36,000 workers would affect company earnings by up to a quarter.

 

Stock of Arabtec, the UAE’s largest construction company, yesterday closed down 1.13 per cent at Dh2.62.

DUBAI - The number of people caught working illegally or selling goods has fallen.Offences such as begging, car washing or working as unlicensed porters and butchers fell from 38,110 over the first eight months of 2012 to 9,688 for the same period this year.

And blue-collar workers in West Asia, who are far more in number, and whose remittances now fetch many more rupees.
