Activists from road and rail workers’ unions have been focusing their energies on the key topics of globalisation, deregulation and logistics supply chains at an event in Canada this week.

More than 200 unionists from 76 unions in 44 countries were attending the Canadian Auto Workers and ITF co-sponsored road and rail conference in Toronto from 12-16 November. National week of action targets ships at Australian port

Seafarers on Korean flagged ship Jin Hyang

An ITF week of action targeting flag of convenience (FOC) vessels in an Australian port got off the ground earlier this week.

ITF inspectors have been investigating conditions on board FOC vessels entering Newcastle Port during the week of action from 12-16 November; it also involves representatives from Hong Kong, Japan, Philippines, South Korea, Taiwan and New Zealand.

Global union complaint against Deutsche Post DHL violations

DHL workers in Turkey demand respect

The ITF and global union partner UNI have made a complaint against Deutsche Post DHL (DP-DHL) for breaching international guidelines set by the Organisation for Economic Cooperation and Development (OECD).

In a letter to the ministerial counsellor Joachim Steffens on 21 November, the national contact point for the OECD in Germany, they alleged that the company had committed a series of violations outside Germany, in breach of the organisation’s guidelines on multinational enterprises.
