WFTU in solidarity with the workers of Zeytinburnu Nakliyeciler Site, Istanbul

The World Federation of Trade Unions, which is the militant voice of more than 92 million members in 126 countries all over the world, extends its internationalist solidarity with Nakliyat-Is and the workers of Zeytinburnu Nakliyeciler Site in Istanbul against the decision of its demolition and against the oppression towards the workers by the riot police.

The Governorship and Metropolitan Municipality of Istanbul decided to demolish Zeytinburnu Nakliyeciler Site where 1000 workers are employed, in order to make profits from its exploitation since it is at the centre of Istanbul, sending by this way 1.000 families to impoverishment and hunger.

As world class-oriented trade union movement, we firmly denounce these practices as well as the oppression and violence against the workers. We support the struggles of our brothers members of Nakliyat-Is union and workers of Zeytinburnu Nakliyeciler Site and we demand the respect of their rights.
